From external requirement to transformative lever
When Yottaworld decided to embark on a sustainability journey, the initial motivation was clear: respond to the growing ESG expectations of the tech supply chain.
Today, 80% of large global companies ask their suppliers to adopt sustainable practices.
For those working in network & security, alignment looked like an obligation — almost an inevitable step.
But soon, something much more powerful emerged:
“We thought sustainability was a checklist. Instead, it was already part of who we were.”
— Vincenzo Occhipinti, CEO, Yottaworld
What began as a compliance exercise quickly turned into a transformative journey — for the business, the people, and the company culture.

1. Sustainability is not something you build from scratch. It’s often already there.
One of the strongest insights to emerge from the first phase — the maturity assessment — was that many sustainability elements were already embedded in Yottaworld’s DNA:
- a human and flexible approach to work
- a culture of respect, wellbeing and inclusion
- a strong focus on talent and shared growth
“Innovamey didn’t give us a label.
They helped us recognise what was already there — and turn it into strategic value.”
— Giulia Scanu, Head of HR
2. Every industry has its own definition of sustainability
In the tech world, there’s a tendency to think “we don’t pollute”, because services are immaterial.
But that’s not true.
The environmental impact of IT, data centres, and hardware supply chains is enormous — and often invisible.
Yottaworld had the courage to face this ambiguity and ask:
- What does sustainability really mean for our sector?
- How can we act with coherence, even if we’re only 40 people?
- How can we become pioneers, not just “compliant”?
“Being small is not an excuse.
If anything, it’s an opportunity to act immediately — with vision.”
— Vittorio Fortunato, Innovation Lead, Yottaworld
3. Sustainability is (also) a platform for innovation
The heart of the project was this:
not stopping at the report — but using sustainability to innovate products and services.
Yottaworld:
- defined four new sustainable service lines
(including Green Network Solutions and the Sustainability Insight Hub) - launched internal R&D and updated technical skills
- elevated human capital as a true competitive asset
“Talking to people was fundamental.
We saw a need for alignment — but also a huge amount of energy and shared vision.”
— Sharon Sorti, Sustainability Communication, Innovamey
4. Purpose and meaning at work: the hidden levers
Among the most underestimated — yet most impactful — results was the effect on internal culture.
Once made visible and strategic, sustainability generated:
- greater engagement
- stronger sense of belonging
- clearer understanding of the company’s direction
“People felt they were part of something bigger.
They weren’t just ‘working well’.
They were building the company’s future.”
— Goram Mbow, Operations Lead, Yottaworld
5. After 7 years, a new energy
The project with Innovamey arrived seven years after Yottaworld’s founding — a moment of shift, renewal, and repositioning.
“We needed new energy.
This project gave us vision, method, and new paths for growth.”
— Vincenzo Occhipinti, CEO, Yottaworld
In an industry evolving as fast as cybersecurity and digital infrastructure, standing still means falling behind.
Yottaworld chose to restart — intentionally.
What we learn from this experience
- Sustainability doesn’t always start with an ethical awakening.
Sometimes it starts with an external request — and becomes an internal opportunity. - Every industry has its own meaning of sustainability.
The real leaders are those who begin to define it. - Sustainability is not an Excel sheet.
It is strategy, culture, and innovation — together. - Small companies can (and must) act.
Sustainability belongs to everyone.
“The best projects are the ones that don’t just change the business —
they change the way people feel about their work.”
— Sara Todde, Sustainability Content Manager, Innovamey
Conclusion: “Innovating with responsibility, growing with impact”
With Yottaworld, we built a journey that is real, measurable, and integrated.
But above all, we built a direction — a shared mission.
Today, Yottaworld is ready not just to follow — but to lead.
And we are proud to have contributed to writing this new chapter.
“We innovated — together.
And we’re not going back.”
— Aram Mbow, Founder & CEO, Innovamey
